Group 2

Contribution: Present and discuss my recent work with Turkmani, Kontar, MacKinnon and Vlahos on a modification (LRTTM) of the Collisional Thick Target Model (CTTM) to include local re-accelearion processes in situations of distributed magnetic energy release. In particular to explain the main differences in the theoretical properties of LRTTM versus CTTM and to discuss testable predictions for evaluation of the model.

Group 1

Contribution:  Present and discuss issues concerning the contributions of recombination to HXR continuum spectra in both thermal and nonthermal cases. With Mallik I have proposed, on the basis of a simplified treatment that nonthermal recombination (NTR) may be a very important neglected component of fast electron HXR emission, while Landi and others have recently argued that the importance of thermal recombination has been underestimated.
