SMID aims to form
professional statisticians with strong expertise in mathematics and
informatics.
Foundational
modules are from mathematics and computer science and the
specificity of the degree is provided by modules in probability and
statistics.
Applications
of statistics to problems from biology, physics, medicine, environment and
social sciences are discussed in many modules.
The
taught modules are organized in lectures, exercise classes,
activities in informatics or experimental
laboratories.
The formation of a student is
completed by a compulsory experience in local institution/business/company in
order to introduce the student to a working environment within his/her chosen
field of study. See the stage
web page.
