How to get here by Plane
If you plan to get a plane to reach the conference site, the most covenient airports are those of Roma Fiumicino, of Roma Ciampino and of Florence. Both from Rome and from Florence it is possible to reach Cortona taking a direct train. Alternatively you might consider landing either at the airport of Pisa or at that of Bologna although the organizers strongly recommend against choosing this option, since, to reach Cortona, you need first to get to Florence by train.
There is a train station within the walls of Cortona, called Stazione di Camucia-Cortona, not to be mistaken with that of Terontola-Cortona which is 8Km far from the city. You can plan your trip and buy on-line your train tickets on the website of Trenitalia. Notice that Camucia-Cortona is connected directly with the station of Roma Termini (125 minutes – 11.55€, one way) as well as with that of Florence S. Maria Novella and of Florence Campo di Marte (70 minutes — 10.80€, one way). Please remember that, if you buy tickets on-line for a regional train, they are valid up to 4 hours after the departure time of the train, which you selected. If you opt for buying a ticket from a counter or from an automatic vending machine at the station, please remember that you need to validate your ticket before boarding the train.
To reach the conference place by car take the A1 highway exit named Valdichiana and then follow these instructions
In Cortona, you can reach the Palazzone either on foot (3.7Km, uphill — difference in height of about 160m — see map) or you can take a cab (around 15€, one way).
